This is a very legitimate leak from Facebook’s secretive Building 8 research facility. It illustrates the future direction of the market. With social networks becoming appliances in the home, much like the Amazon Echo, Google Home, only with touch screens.
These products combine a variety of sensors to acquire a kind of auditory, visual, & spatial awareness of your home, and the people in it with artificial neural networks for voice recognition, affective computing, for smarter advertising, better product suggestions, and an ever increasing ability to attract and keep your attention and focus.
A major metric of the success of these devices is driven by how frequently you are paying attention to it and how much you are using it, how often your eyes are looking at it or your ears are listening to it, or your mouth is talking to it.
If you become an addict, someone’s stock value increases. That may sound cynical but the good news is that you and your family are probably going to love these types of devices.
