Oorbit is building infrastructure for the metaverse the right way! With a combination of first party & third party titles that are designed out of the box to work with the NFT character assets that you own. They’ve put a lot of thought into this and I think they have the right approach.

I would describe the approach taken by Oorbit as a cross between Stadia, Netflix, and Nintendo. What I saw in a private demo was a first look at a new cloud gaming service delivered over the web with smart software level integrations of user owned game assets, such as character armor that might give the player some advantage in a new game.
Participating independent developers would be able to customize how that item interacts with their game. So the game does not become imbalanced with items that are too powerful, and the performance of the game isn’t going to be slowed down by items that are graphically too intense for the games frame rate.
I interviewed Ash Koosha, CEO and Cofounder, and Pooya Koosha, CTO and Cofounder from the team at Oorbit today at GDC 2022 and you can watch the interview here:
To date Oorbit has raised 5 million in seed funding from Mark Cuban, Pixelynx (deadmau5's company), and HOF Capital.
Their approach to the Web3 Metaverse is unique in that they are curating 3rd party titles & developing first party titles that are interoperable with one another in terms of being able to share items owned by the players thanks to web3 integration.
The first party titles that I saw in the closed demo looked like the kinds of high quality gaming experience one expects to see on a new gaming platform. The Oorbit team also described themselves as gamers from the 1990's era. Which would include games from consoles like Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, and Playstation. What I have seen looks good so far, and I think their approach makes sense. If I could speculate I would say that I think the big test for Oorbit will be user engagement. I will be looking to see how quickly they can get this into the hands of users and what the user adoption will be like. Will the average person say to themselves “This has the right value proposition for me, I want to play on Oorbit’s platform today?” That’s what I’m looking for.
